Settling Time

The Settling Time option value is the number of time constants (T) allowed for the PLL to lock on to the source signal. The time constant is the period of the lowest frequency of the PLL (for example, a loop bandwidth or pole frequency). During the settling time portion of the acquisition record, jitter measurements, protocol decode, etc. will not be performed. For jitter measurements, it is important to give the PLL sufficient time to lock on to the source signal, but for protocol decode, a shorter settling time may be okay.
