The test set's Save, Quick Save and Recall keys allow you to save setups that you commonly use and recall them quickly when you next need to use the same setup.
The test set allows you to: save a new register; replace an existing register; recall an existing register; obtain a list of existing registers or delete an existing register. This feature works in the application that is currently selected.
Settings that are saved:
The current application.
The current screen setup, for example, the current screen and the enabled measurements.
All the RF Generator settings.
All the measurement setup and results settings including the increment settings.
Settings that are not saved:
The remote control configurations, for example, the GPIB address, and the LAN configuration.
The RF amplitude offsets.
To save to a register:
using the front panel.
Under UTILITY, press the Save key. The Register Save dialog box appears.
Navigate to the directory you want to save the register in and enter the File Name. If you have a keyboard connected you can enter an alphanumeric name. If you are entering a name from the front panel select <New Register File>, this automatically enters Register_ in the File Name, you can then enter a numeric number using the numeric pad on the front panel.
Select Save Register.
from the display's Main Menu.
On the Main Menu select the File menu, then Save. The Register Save dialog box appears.

The Refresh Directory List softkey which appears on both the Register Save and Register Recall dialog boxes is only needed to refresh the top level of your mapped drives, all other directories are refreshed automatically.
The number of registers you can save are limited only by the available disk space. You can name a register using any legal file name you want. The file name suffix is .srl. You can save and recall registers from any directory. However the default directory is D:\E6601A_WCTS\<program version>\Registers\<application>. Where;
<program version> is in the form of "<alpha>.<numeric><numeric>.<numeric><numeric>", for example "A.xx.yy".
<application> is the currently selected application.
SCPI command: SYSTem:REGister:SAVe
It is also possible to save to a register without having to specify a directory or a file name. This feature is known as Quick Save. Quick Save saves the register to a predefined directory (based on the last directory used with Save) and names the file "QuickSave_<n>", where <n> is an <nr1> between 1 and 10. Quick Save does not save over any previously saved files unless all 10 files are being used.
To quick save to a register:
using the front panel.
Under UTILITY, press the Quick Save key.
from the display's Main Menu.
On the Main Menu select the File menu, then Quick Save.
Registers can be deleted from both the Register Save and Register Recall dialog boxes.

The save/recall registers can be transported between test sets running the same or different WCTS Program versions.
If when the register is transported to a new location there are differences between the available settings in the register and the new location an "Invalid version" error message is displayed. This may occur if you are transporting the register between a different program version. In this instance the following occurs to the register:
Saved settings that are present in the register but which are not present in the application in which it's recalled are ignored.
Settings that are present in the application in which the register is recalled but which are not present in the register are set to their preset values.
Settings that are incompatible in some way between the register and the application in which it's recalled are set to their preset values.
In situations where the register is not recognized as a correctly formatted register, or is incompatible in its new location, an error message is displayed when you attempt to recall the register.
On the test set which contains the register you want to transport, connect a portable USB memory drive to one of the USB connectors.
Copy the register from the directory in which it is saved. The default directory for saving registers is D:\E6601A_WCTS\<program version>\Registers\<application>. Where;
<program version> is in the form of "<alpha>.<numeric><numeric>.<numeric><numeric>", for example "A.xx.yy".
<application> is the currently selected application.
Safely remove the USB memory drive, and connect it to the test set you want to transport the register to.
Save the register to the directory you want. It is recommended you use the default directory of D:\E6601A_WCTS\<program version>\Registers\<application>.
Recall the register to ensure it is operating
correctly.
If you have recalled the register in a different program version, or
the test set has different licences installed an "Invalid version"
error message may be displayed. This indicates that some settings may
either have been ignored or set to their preset values as detailed in
the bullet points above. It is therefore advisable to:
verify the register operates as intended, then
re-save the recalled configuration. This ensures it is fully compatible in its new location and when recalled no longer generates this error message.
