There are many ways to perform the same actions when using the test set manually. This topic provides step-by-step procedures that are optimized for use when a USB mouse and keyboard are connected to the test set.
With a USB mouse and keyboard connected to the test set, you can interact with the test set in the same way you would operate a desktop computer. It is recommended that you ensure a proper working environment (see Working in Comfort). Many of the functions that you can perform using the test set's front panel keys are duplicated on the graphical user interface to reduce the need for you to interact with the test set's front panel directly. For example, the application's Menu bar enables you to change screens, switch between open windows, select measurements, perform preset operations, or access the Help (see the following graphic).
Refer to one of the following procedures:
On the Screens menu, click the screen you want.
On the Measurements menu, click Measurement Selection.
In the Measurement Selection window, select the measurements you want to activate, or clear the measurements you want to deactivate.
Ensure that the results window for the measurement you want to set up is the active window.
Click the Setup softkey for the measurement (for example, Spectrum Monitor Setup). The measurement's setup window opens.
Set up the measurement parameters as required.
Perform one of the following actions:
On the Window menu, click the window you want.
On the View menu, click Next Window. Continue clicking Next Window until the window you want is fully visible.
Perform one of the following actions:
On the View menu, click Zoom. Note that some windows do not support the Zoom feature.
Move the pointer
to the left or right edge of the window you want to resize, and when the
pointer becomes a
, drag the pointer to change the size
of the window.
Note that for some types of windows, resizing the window using a mouse is a temporary action. The window is restored to its original size when another front panel action is performed.
For numeric parameters that also support the On/Off state:
Position the pointer at the parameter you want, right-click on the parameter box to open the pop-up menu, and then click Turn On or Turn Off.
For numeric parameters that also support the Auto/Manual state:
Position the pointer at the parameter you want, right-click on the parameter box to open the pop-up menu, and then click Switch to Auto or Switch to Manual.
On the Utility menu, click the type of preset you want, Full Preset or Partial Preset.
Perform one of the following actions:
On the Help menu, click Contents. This opens the Help at the Welcome (default) topic with the navigation pane displayed (Contents and Search tabs).
Point to the window, tab, or parameter you want help for, right-click to open the pop-up (shortcut) menu, and then click Help. This opens the help at the topic most relevant to the window, tab, or parameter.
Position the pointer at the parameter you want, right-click on the parameter box to open the pop-up (shortcut) menu, and then click SCPI Command. The SCPI syntax for the parameter is displayed on the lower status bar.
On the Help menu, click About. This displays the About E6601A Wireless Communications Test Set window containing software version and test set serial number information.
Click on the softkey you want.
On the File menu, click Exit.
