DPCH Frequency Error (FERR) Measurement Description

Last Updated: August 29, 2007

This topic describes the Frequency Error measurement. Frequency Error is a measurement in the Dedicated Physical Channel measurement suite.

How is a Frequency Error Measurement Made?

The Frequency Error measurement measures the difference between the carrier frequency transmitted from the UE and the expected frequency. The UE uses the same frequency source for both RF frequency generation and the chip clock.

The limit and test tolerance is settable for this measurement. If the frequency error does not exceed the sum of the limit (plus the test tolerance level if the Enable Test Tolerances parameter is enabled), then this measurement will pass. In order to meet the minimum requirements specified in 3GPP TS 34.121 section 5.3.2, the modulated carrier frequency must be accurate to within ±0.1 ppm of the downlink carrier frequency.

Frequency Error Measurement Parameters

Frequency Error is a measurement in the Dedicated Physical Channel measurement suite. See Dedicated Physical Channel Measurement Suite Measurement Parameters for details of the parameters that apply to all measurements in the suite.

Frequency Error Measurement Limits

Frequency Error is a measurement in the Dedicated Physical Channel measurement suite. See Dedicated Physical Channel Measurement Suite Measurement Limits for details of the limits parameters that apply to all measurements in the suite.

Frequency Error Measurement Results

Integrity Indicator

This result provides the integrity indicator for the Dedicated Physical Channel measurement suite. Normal indicates that the measurement suite completed successfully without error and the result is accurate. For details of other integrity indicators, see Measurement Integrity Indicator.

SCPI command: FETCh:WDPChannel:INTegrity?

Frequency Error

This result provides the frequency error in Hz and ppm.

SCPI commands: FETCh:WDPChannel:FERRor[:PARTial]?, FETCh:WDPChannel:FERRor:ALL?

Frequency Error Input Signal Requirements

Frequency Error is a measurement in the Dedicated Physical Channel measurement suite. See Dedicated Physical Channel Measurement Suite Input Signal Requirements for details of the input signal requirements that apply to all measurements in the suite.
