The following section describes procedures for Windows XP. Refer to the Windows 7 Help and Support to perform equivalent operating system tasks under Windows 7. |
|
During boot up of MS Windows or of the PXB firmware, do not press keys on the front panel, rotate the RPG knob, or connect a USB device. Doing so may lead to a front panel lockup state. Wait until the firmware is running and all activity has stopped for at least one minute. |
To turn on the PXB, briefly press the Power
button. The Power LED will change
from yellow to green when power is on.
The instrument is sent from the factory with the following Power Option
Properties: The monitor is set to shut off after 1 hour of inactivity,
the hard disk drive (HDD) is set to shut off after 3 minutes of inactivity,
and System standby is set for Never.
The PXB does not support the
MS Windows Standby or Hibernate modes.
|
To prolong the life of your PXB's HDD, Agilent recommends that you leave the Power Options settings at their default values. |
In Shutdown mode, the current instrument state is not
automatically saved before the PXB is powered off. When the PXB is again
powered on, a full system boot up is performed, and the PXB powers up
in the preset settings. A password is required to resume operation after
being in Shutdown mode. The Power LED will change
from green to yellow when power is off.

|
If you cannot operate the mouse or keypad, shut down the PXB by pressing and holding the Power button for at least four seconds. However, repeated shut downs in this manner may damage the hard drive. Learn more about Preventing Hard Disk Drive Problems. |
Remove the power cord from the PXB only when the Power LED is yellow (in Shutdown mode). Removing the power cord while the LED is green may permanently damage the instrument. The LED will remain yellow for several seconds after the power cord has been removed.
