Configure an External Switch Matrix (L8990M)


Once configured, an external switch matrix L8990M can be accessed from the Enhanced Time Domain Analysis (E-TDR). This capability requires VNA with option S9x011A/B.

How to Configure an External Switch Matrix

  1. Important: Create an External Switch Matrix device by name (one-time). Learn how (separate topic).

  2. On the Configure an External Device dialog, click Device Properties (this topic).

  3. Setup the external switch matrix in the Enhanced Time Domain Analysis (E-TDR).

  1. Press Setup > External Hardware > External Device...

  1. Click Instrument

  2. Select Setup

  3. Select External Hardware

  4. Select External Device...

Switch Matrix Configuration

Switch Name - This is the switch name which is also labelled on the L8990M front panel.

Model - The supported models are:

o   L3111X, SPDT Switch, Terminated

o   L3113X, SPDT Switch, Unterminated

o   L3122X, SP4T Multiport Switch

o   L3121X, SP6T Multiport Switch

o   L3131X, Transfer Switch

Port Name - Port Name for the switch. Each switch has multiple ports, for example, SW1 L3121X is a SP6T Multiport Switch, which has 7 ports in total, so there are 7 rows for SW1.

Connect To - Select where the switch port connect to.

Each switch port can connect to

o   VNA port

o   Another switch port

o   Specified as a test port

o   “None” for not used
