Software Licensing for S-Parameter and Double-Pulse Tests

You can download the PD1000A System Software from Keysight at any time from the following website: www.keysight.com/find/PD1000Asoftware.

For PD1000AControl Software version 2023.324 (or later):
 - S-parameter tests require a PD1010B license.
 - Double-Pulse Test Measurements require a PD1020A License.
 - Double-Pulse Test offline Mode to run additional extractions require a PD1021A License.
 - GaN device Double-Pulse Tests require a PD1030A license.
 - The IV/CV tests do not require licensing.

 

  1. Select the Trials & Licenses tab.
  2. Click the Details & Download button.
  3. Read the instructions and click the red Download button. Follow all on-screen instructions.

Installing the Software Licenses

All aspects of the PD1000A Control Software can be installed and used for 30 days without a license. However, after 30 days you must have a permanent software license to continue running On-state/Off-state S-parameter and Double-Pulse tests. Each host controller PC requires separate software licenses. For software and licensing information, go to: www.keysight.com/find/PD1000Asoftware.

The 30-day evaluation does not require a licensing file. At installation, the software prompts you to activate the 30-day trial period (if a current license is not found and if you have not already started the 30-day trial). This works locally on the host PC, and you do not need an Internet connection or licensing file.

Other than the trial software license, the PD1000A software has one available license for S-parameter tests( PD1010B) and one for the Double-Pulse Tests (PD1020A); both are perpetual fixed licenses. Additionally, license PD1030A is required for testing GaN devices and PD1021A is required for using the Offline Software. These licenses enable the software only on the host controller PC to which the license is originally assigned.

How the licensing process works:

  1. You purchase software licenses for the software and then receive Entitlement Certificates as either a printed copy, an email with the certificate, or both.

  2. Follow the instructions in the Entitlement Certificate to redeem the license. You must enter the Entitlement Certificate number and the host ID of the PC.

  3. Once you have entered the information, a license file is emailed (as an attachment) to the PC. The license file has a .lic file extension; for example: 10000996212_829728.lic.

  4. From this email, save the attached license file to a temporary location on the C: drive of the computer where you have installed the PD1000A Control Software.

  5. Start the Keysight PathWave License Manager on your computer.

  6. The license automatically installs and now appears in the View Licenses of the Keysight PathWave License Manager as an installed license under the host system. The PD1000A software is now licensed and ready for use.

The license automatically installs and now appears in the Tree View of the Keysight License Manager as an installed license under the host system. The Control software is now licensed and ready for use.

Your PC Host ID

Host ID is a permanent, unique identifier to a computer or a Keysight instrument or application that locks licenses to that particular computer, instrument or application. If the host information provided at the time the license is generated is wrong, then the license does not enable the features purchased.

It is important that you enter the correct host ID information. Your license cannot enable the software if the host information does not exactly match your instrument or application.

Where can I find the Host ID?

To obtain a Host ID from the Keysight PathWave License Manager application, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Keysight PathWave License Manager:Open the Keysight PathWave License Manager.

  2. Select Add License tab.

  3. The host ID(s) of the machine are listed.
