Using the Add PXI Chassis Utility

To start the Add PXI Chassis utility, open IO Control application, then click Utilities > Add PXI Chassis.

The Keysight PXI Resource Manager must be the active resource manager before you can add a PXI chassis. If you attempt to add a chassis when another resource manager is active, the chassis will not actually be added until you make the Keysight PXI Resource Manager active.

To add a chassis to your configuration:

  1. In the left pane of the Add PXI Chassis window, select your chassis by choosing its vendor and then its model number.

If your chassis is not listed, type or paste the full path name of the chassis description file into the Chassis Description File field. This file is provided as part of your chassis software and must be installed before you can add the chassis.

  2. Locate the PCI bridges that map to this chassis' bus segments in the PCI tree in the right pane of the Add PXI Chassis window.

For each bus segment in the chassis you are adding:

    1. Double-click the corresponding PCI-to-PCI bridge in the right pane.
    2. You will see the PCI-to-PCI Bridge dialog box, showing the bus number of this PCI-to-PCI bridge. Select the chassis bus segment that corresponds to this PCI-to-PCI bridge.
    3. Click OK.

In the left pane of the Add PXI Chassis window, you'll see the mapping that indicates the bus downstream from the bridge you've mapped (i.e., the bus number shown will be one higher than that of the bridge you selected).

  3. Click Add to add this chassis to your configuration.

  4. Start Keysight Connection Expert and select the PXI Chassis tab to verify that your chassis is displayed correctly.
