User Interface Tour

This section introduces you to the Connection Expert Graphical User Interface (GUI). You will learn how to navigate through the GUI elements and view some features and functions before you begin working with the interface.

1 The Title Bar contains buttons and menu options to access the most commonly used functions.

The Select Test Station(s) dropdown shows the connected test station. Currently, it is not functional and a placeholder for future releases.

The Instruments View lets you explore instruments and interfaces effortlessly with two distinct display modes.

  • Instruments Flat view (default display mode): lists instruments connected to the test station, allowing you manage instrument-related activities such as adding, editing or removing an instrument, sending commands, copying resources string, updating IVI Drivers, managing aliases, and launching the SFP.

  • Instruments Group view:lists interfaces categorized by test station, along with the number of online and offline instruments connected to each interface. It allows you to add, edit, or remove an interface, test interface connections, rescan interfaces, configure test station settings, and launch the Alias Manager and VISA Conflict Manager.

The Chassis View lists chassis connected to the test station, including details such as model number, serial number, slots, and more. It includes three tabs: Chassis Content, Chassis Triggers, and Chassis Numbers.
The view is not available on Linux platforms.

The status bar section displays the overall details of the Connection Expert application:

  • Service Status-Connected indicates that the Connection Expert service is available. If the service is interrupted and the status shows Disconnected, you must restart the Connection Expert service.
    To restart: press Win + R, type services.msc, press Enter, find Keysight Connection Expert Service, then right-click and choose Restart (or stop and start).

  • Remote IO Server Status -Indicates whether the Remote IO server is enabled (On) or disabled (Off). When disabled, instruments connected to it cannot be accessed.

  • Primary VISA Library Name - Displays the name of the primary VISA Library, such as 32-bit Keysight VISA.

  • Keysight IO Libraries Suite Version - Display the version of the Keysight IO Libraries Suite currently running on the PC.
