The Internal 50 MHz Calibrator adjustment establishes the amplitude of an external calibrated signal of 50 MHz (–25 dBm) and adjusts the internal reference oscillator to the same amplitude.
The source signal is provided by a signal generator. A power meter is used to adjust the signal amplitude to –25.00 dBm. The signal is then measured by the VSA. Then the internal 50 MHz reference oscillator amplitude is adjusted to the same level. The internal 50 MHz reference oscillator is used when the instrument performs many of the internal alignments.
