The Spurious Responses test verifies that the instrument meets the published specifications for spurious responses. The source signal is provided by a signal generator. The source signal's amplitude is monitored by a power meter and maintained at a constant value throughout the test.
The input signal frequency and the E4406A VSA center frequencies are set to known spurious response frequencies. Then the signal amplitude is set and verified using the power meter. The signal is measured by the VSA and used as a reference amplitude. Then the source is set to input frequencies known to produce the spurious responses. The resulting spurious response is measured and the spurious responses value is calculated.
When connecting the test equipment, ensure that the source 10 MHz reference output is connected to the VSA reference input connection.
