N9048B PXE equipped with preamplifier
This adjustment will use two equipment setups: one using a function generator and another using a PNA-X network analyzer.
To generate corrections below 50 MHz (RF Preselector Off) or 30 MHz (RF Preselector On), the traditional technique is used with a source (function generator), power splitter, and power sensor. The source-splitter-sensor is considered to be a calibrated source.
To generate corrections above 50 MHz (RF Preselector Off) or 30 MHz (RF Preselector On), the PNA-X network analyzer is used as the calibrated source. A calibration must be performed on the PNA-X prior to running the adjustment (see below).
At each correction frequency, the calibrated source amplitude is adjusted to –35 dBm. Next, the flatness corrections are turned off, and amplitude error versus frequency is measured from 9 kHz to the end of Band Zero. The data is then normalized to the 50 MHz error to generate corrections relative to 50 MHz, and stored in the analyzer memory.

The network analyzer used in this adjustment must be calibrated prior to running the adjustment. The calibration will need to be repeated once every three days or if the connectors or cables have been disturbed. If it's been within the three day time frame and the connectors and cables have not been disturbed, then the network analyzer calibration is not necessary and you may proceed with the adjustment.
For a list of required equipment and calibration instructions to perform the network analyzer calibration, refer to Network Analyzer Freq Sweep Calibration.

Due to the sensitivity of this adjustment, minimize cable movement from the PNA and avoid bending the cable unnecessarily. |
