With the E.10.00 release, this test is now run as two separate tests: the first for RF Input 1 and the second test will be run on RF Input 2 which will be a functional test. This topic covers both tests. |
Displayed Average Noise Level (DANL) tests the average of the displayed noise. To measure DANL, the EMI receiver’s input is terminated with a 50 ohm load. The DUT is placed in zero span, and the trace data is averaged by summing all 1000 trace points and dividing by 1000. The resulting number is normalized to 0 dB input attenuation by subtracting out the attenuation setting. The result is then normalized to 1 Hz Radiant Bandwidth (RBW) by subtracting out the value of 10 x LOG(RBW). If the DUT has the preamp option, additional testing is performed with the preamp on. All tests are performed in DC-Coupled mode.

For Option 503 and 508, Type-N termination will be used in both RF Input 1 and RF Input 2. For Option 526, 3.5 mm termination will be used in RF Input 1, and the user can choose either to use 3.5 mm termination with an adapter or Type-N termination in RF Input 2. For Option 544, 2.4 mm termination will be used in RF Input 1, and the user can choose either to use 2.4 mm termination or Type-N termination in RF Input 2. |
