Equipment & Setups

  • Before starting this test, verify that the Report Receiver Overload box is un-checked (off). To check the status of this setting, from the PNA menu, go to Utility > System > System Setup > Preferences...

    Scroll down to the bottom of the selections. Be sure the box is un-checked (off).

  • Be sure that ClosedPause on test point fail is not selected for this test.

  1. Combination of the V8486A power sensor and V281A adapter must be calibrated as a single unit—do not separate. For more information, click here.Closed When the V281A adapter is mounted on the V8486A power sensor, it is necessary to make sure the 1.85 mm connector on the adapter is on the opposite side from the type-N connector on the power sensor.  The power sensor/adapter combination must be connected prior to calibrating the power sensor.  The combination must be left connected for the duration of the calibration period. Check Option H67 when configuring the station and import the correct calibration data associated with Option H67. Also refer to Service Note E8361A-01.
  2. Option H67 is an ANSI Z540-1 calibration for the V8486A power sensor with a V281A connector adapter (connected together).
  3. May use loads with adapter from 85058B cal kit as an alternative.

Connection Setups

Due to the complexity of the PNA family of analyzers, the following notes apply to illustrations in the PNA Help:

  • Only a single representative PNA model will be shown. Therefore, port locations may differ in older PNA models than what is shown in the illustration. Refer to the port labels on the UUT.
  • Some illustrations may differ than those in TME.
  • If the test procedure applies to multiple ports, illustrations may show the setup on only one test port.
  • Setups for some option configurations may not appear in the Help.

Setups are grouped by PNA model numbers. Click on the links below for the appropriate model being tested.

For N5230A/C options 42x or 52x, N5234A/AS/B, and N5235A/AS/B, .

 

Power sensor zero/cal

Step 1: PNA port 2 to test set input port 1, and test set output port 2 to power sensor

Step 2: PNA port 1 to test set output port 2, and PNA port 2 to test set input port 1

Step 3: PNA port 1 to test set input port 1, and test set output port 2 to power sensor

Step 4: PNA port 1 to test set input port 1, and PNA port 2 to test set output port 2

Step 5: PNA port 1 to test set input port 1, and PNA port 3 to test set output port 2

Step 6: PNA port 1 to test set input port 1, and PNA port 4 to test set output port 2
