This section specifically addresses GPIB bus problems and PNA performance problems that cause pre-test failures. It does not address other types of pre-test problems. Review the General Troubleshooting recommendations before proceeding with this section.
If there appears to be a problem with communication over the GPIB bus, follow the procedure in GPIB Troubleshooting. If the GPIB connections to the PNA appear to be correct but the PNA does not respond, perform a hard reset of the PNA by holding down the PNA power button for more than five seconds.
If a reflection magnitude check fails on a port (S11, S22, etc.):
Make sure the port is left open (for RF PNAs) or has a short/open connected (for microwave PNAs).
Do adjustments for Source Calibration and Receiver Calibration.
If a reflection phase check fails on a port (S11, S22, etc.):
Make sure the port is left open (for RF PNAs) or has a short/open connected (for microwave PNAs).
Do adjustments for Source Calibration and Receiver Calibration.
If a transmission magnitude check fails on a port pair (S12, S21, etc):
Make sure a good through cable is being used for the check.
Do adjustments for Source Calibration and Receiver Calibration.
