Phase Err (GSM/EDGE/EDGE Evolution)

Phase Err is the RMS average of the phase difference between the IQ reference signal and the IQ measured signal for all symbols in the current Timeslot.

Phase Err calculations include points in between symbols. This is only applicable to GMSK since GMSK is demodulated with 10 points per symbol, while all other formats are demodulated with one point per symbol.

The magnitude of this error data is an indicator of the quality of the phase component of the modulated signal. For example, a very high phase error might indicate high incidental FM Frequency Modulation modulation on the signal.

The symbol table also shows the symbol that has the largest phase error (the peak phase error).
