PDF (GSM/EDGE/EDGE Evo)

PDF is the Probability Density Function of the signal. PDF 1) Probability Density Function Trace Data, or 2) Portable Document Format (PDF) created by Adobe Systems is an open standard for document exchange. shows a normalized histogram of the active part of the burst. The PDF trace will continue to accumulate data from each sweep until the measurement is restarted.

A marker placed on the PDF trace will show the probability that the voltage of a data sample randomly chosen from the active part of the burst will be the voltage shown on the marker +/- (x-axis delta)/2.

The markers below indicates that there is a ~0.588% probability that an randomly chosen data sample has an amplitude in the range [38.75 mV, 39.25 mV). Note the difference in brackets. Voltages halfway between trace points are included in the voltage range for upper point.
