Discovered Instruments Tab (Hardware)
Menu Path:
The About Subordinate Instruments for more information.
tab provides a list of the available (discovered) and currently connected input measurement analyzer and source hardware, as well as simulated hardware and streaming data interfaces. Instruments that are discovered but unavailable because they are currently in use by other instruments (also known as subordinate instruments) are also displayed in the Discovered Instruments tab. See- Real Hardware (TCPIP, GPIB, USB): Lists the available real hardware that the 89600 VSA software found and has IO connectivity (by address). At startup (and whenever the Rediscover Instruments button is clicked), the VSA discovers instruments using instrument addresses and settings configured in the VSA Instrument Manager. For a list of supported hardware, see Available Measurement Hardware or Source Feature Capabilities.
- UDP: Lists the available User Data Protocol connections (e.g., Vita49). UDP connections are made in the VSA software using the Instrument Manager. At startup (and whenever the Rediscover Instruments button is clicked), the VSA discovers instruments using instrument addresses and settings configured in the VSA Instrument Manager
- SIM: Lists the available Simulated hardware interfaces.
- USR: Lists the available Streaming data interfaces
The icon beside the instrument in the tree on the left indicates the source of the instrument address:
-
The connection address was acquired from the VSA instrument manager
-
The connection address was acquired from VISA (Keysight Connection Expert)
When an instrument is selected, detailed information about the discovered instrument is shown in the Properties panel to the right of the Discovered Instruments list.
Rediscover Instruments
If hardware is missing from the list of discovered instruments, you can refresh the list by clicking the button. You do not need to re-start the VSA software to discover new instruments; the button function will discover any newly added or fixed hardware connections and update the Discovery Log.
If a real instrument is not listed, the VSA has lost connectivity. Verify that the instrument is powered on and that the hardware is still connected to the VSA. See Selecting Hardware for more information.
Properties
The Properties expanding panel displays information about the selected discovered instrument. The information displayed varies depending on the instrument type.
Discovery Log
The Discovery Log expanding panel displays the most recent discovery log for comparison with the current list of discovered instruments. The discovery log will be updated every time Rediscover Instruments is performed.
