About Hardware

The Hardware menu is used to manage all VSA hardware connectivity functionality, including managing the VSA IO hardware interface connectivity, creating hardware configurations, and selecting configurations.

There are three configuration types: Analyzer Configurations, Source Configurations and Switch Configurations.

Analyzer Configurations - The Analyzer configuration provides the input time data to the VSA software for analysis. You can create multi-hardware, multi-channel analyzer configurations. Analyzer configuration input measurement hardware can consist of a combination of real hardware, simulated Hardware (SIM), or Streaming Data (USR). Real hardware are real instruments connected to the 89600 VSA via LAN Local Area Network: A communications network that serves users within a local geographical area, typically over distances of around 100m. Wireless LANs use wireless communicaitons to network devices so there is no need for data cabling., GPIB, USB, etc. Simulated hardware are software-implemented instruments that simulate real Keysight hardware. Input hardware can also be used as a data stream interface.

Source Configurations - Source configurations are used to manage the VSA IO interface connection to sources controlled by the VSA. The VSA provides integrated control of external sources and source signal playback of VSA recorded signals, see Source Overview.

Switch Configurations (BETA) - Switch configurations are used with Sequential Input Channel Acquisition to execute multiple acquisitions for a single measurement by connecting the signal analysis hardware to multiple signal ports (e.g., DUT Device under Test: An acronym used to describe some type of electrical apparatus connected to test instrumentation. The apparatus can range from a single component to a complex subsystem such as a mobile phone, base station or MSC. ports).

The VSA supports multiple Analyzer, Source and Switch hardware configuration usage. Multiple hardware configurations make it very easy to switch between different Analyzer or Source hardware measurement setups.
