Antenna Combined Beam Pattern (LTE)

Antenna Combined Beam Pattern shows the antenna beam patterns for each beamformed PDSCH Physical Downlink Shared Channel user allocation in the selected layer. This trace combines the beam patterns from all antenna groups. To view the beam pattern for a single antenna group, use the Antenna Group Beam Pattern trace.

The beam pattern for C-RS is also shown on this trace (calculated from C-RS Cell-specific RS information on MIMO Info Table).

The UE-RS UE-specific Reference Signal weights for a PDSCH user allocation are computed by calculating the UE User Equipment (e.g. cell phone)-RS weight values for all UE-RS resource elements in the Measurement Interval for the user allocation and then averaging over all resource elements for each receive antenna. The UE-RS weights used to calculate the antenna beam pattern can be seen in the UE-specific RS Weights summary table when Weights Display Mode is set to Per User.

UE-RS weights are assumed to be constant over all subframes in the frame.

The LTE Long Term Evolution demodulator assumes vertical, linear antenna arrays with uniform antenna spacing. The spacing is specified by Element Spacing.

The antenna beam patterns are color-coded to match the color for the corresponding PDSCH user allocation in the Frame Summary.

Only half of the beam pattern is shown, the other half is symmetric about the origin.

The points on this trace are evenly spaced every 0.5 degree.

The magnitudes of the points for a PDSCH antenna beam pattern are normalized to the peak of the beam pattern.
