Equalizer Training (5G NR/5G-Advanced)
contains a group of parameters that control the equalizer training procedure.
Equalizer Training parameters are disabled in 3GPP Conformance Test Test Mode.
- Determines what portion of the signal contributes to the equalizer training procedure. This affects the equalization used for demodulation, as well as the presented channel frequency response result data.
None - Equalizer Training is off.
RS - DMRS of all active channels.
RS+Data - DMRS of all active channels + PTRS (if there is PTRS) + DATA.
Default: RS (downlink), RS + Data (uplink)

- Determines what portion of the signal (in time) contributes to the equalizer training procedure as used for demodulation. The Time Basis selection is especially important for BLER Block Error Rate - A ratio of the number of erroneous blocks to the total number of blocks received on a digital circuit. Block error rate (BLER) is used for W-CDMA performance requirements tests (demodulation tests in multipath conditions, etc). BLER is measured after channel de-interleaving and decoding by evaluating the Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) on each transport block. measurement with low SNR Signal-to-Noise Ratio signals. Per Slot - Equalizer Training is based on the slot. The equalization used for demodulation is derived primarily from signals present in the the slot.
Per Subframe - Equalizer Training is based on the subframe. The equalization used for demodulation is derived primarily from signals present in the demodulated subframe.
Per Frame - Equalizer Training is based on the frame. The equalization used for demodulation is derived primarily from signals present in the frame.
Result Length - Equalizer Training is based on the Measurement Interval. The equalization used for demodulation includes signals present in the entire result length of the measurement.
Contiguous Slots (uplink only) - Equalizer Training is based on the contiguous slots. For example, if two PUSCHs are allocated contiguously and their RB allocation overlaps, then the channel response will be averaged over those contiguous Slots. This is a good choice for time domain averaging with low SNR signals when the channel response doesn’t change over the Contiguous Slots.

Choices: Per Slot, Per Subframe, Per Frame, Result Length, Contiguous Slots (uplink only)
- specifies whether or not to perform a moving average (frequency smoothing) on the reference signal during equalization, and sets the equalization moving average filter length in RS subcarriers.
The moving average filter smoothing function is based on annex F.7 of 38.141-1, for purposes of conformance test compatibility. The actual frequency width of this smoothing function will vary based on what subcarriers are included in the equalization (RS, RS+Data) and on the RB that are allocated within the signal. The definition is based upon usage of reference subcarriers (RS), although the generalized implementation used by this measurement supports using data subcarriers as well when Equalizer Training Signal Source is set to RS+Data.
