CSI-RS (5G NR/5G-Advanced)

The CSI-RS panel contains the available parameters for one or more CSI channel state information-RS.

Add CSI-RS - Adds a CSI-RS to the transmission. When a CSI-RS is added, a representative button is added at the top of the CSI-RS parameter group.

Remove CSI-RS - Removes the selected CSI-RS.

Clear All - Removes all but the original CSI-RS.

Enable Channels... - Quickly enables and disables the configured CSI-RSs in a single dialog. You can also enable channels individually using the Enabled checkbox at the top of each CSI-RS.

CSI-RS

Enabled - Enables or disables the selected CSI-RS. You can also control all configured CSI-RSs using the Enabled Channels dialog.

Default: disabled

Zero Power - Sets whether the selected CSI-RS is zero-power or non-zero-power.

Default: disabled

BWP ID - Assigns the selected CSI-RS to one of the five available bandwidth parts.

Default: BWP0

Choices: BWP0, BWP1, BWP2, BWP3, BWP4

Resource Elements Used by PDSCH Physical Downlink Shared Channel - Sets whether the resource elements assigned to CSI-RS can be used for PDSCH if CSI-RS collides with PDSCH. If true (checked), PDSCH is mapped to the resource element and CSI-RS will overwrite the values. If false (unchecked), PDSCH is not mapped to the resource elements.

Default: true (checked)

RB Offset - Sets the start index of resource block assigned to the selected CSI-RS physical channel. This value specifies the RB starting point within the containing resource allocation.

Default: 0 RB

Default: 272 RB

Range: 0-(depends on the DL-BWP RB Number)

Periodicity Enabled - Enables or disables Periodicity. Periodicity allows you to allocate the CSI-RS per the specified Periodicity, providing the ability to define CSI-RS patterns over multiple frames within the transmission.

Default: disabled

Auto Det. Active Slots - Enables or disables periodicity auto detection of active slots when Periodicity Enabled is true.

When enabled (true), the slots assigned by the Periodicity and Slot Offset parameters will be marked as CSI-RS only when it is detected as active based on its power or sequence correlation results.

When disabled (false), all of the slots assigned by the Periodicity and Slot Offset parameters will be marked as active and as CSI-RS.

Default: disabled

Periodicity - Sets the CSI-RS Periodicity (in slots) when Periodicity Enabled is true.

Allocated Slots - Sets the slot indexes allocated for this physical channel. Allocated Slots is disabled when Periodicity Enabled is true.

Allocated Slots are entered as an array of slot indexes allocated for this physical channel.

Default: 2

CSI-RS X Symbols - Sets the flexible symbols to be used in the slot format. This property helps define the set of symbols reserved for the selected CSI-RS physical channel. This value represents a bitmap to indicate which "Flexible" symbols from the Slot Format should be available to this CSI-RS physical channel (in every slot).

Default: Blank (indicating no "Flexible" symbols should be allocated to this physical channel)

L0 Symbol - Sets the time-domain location L0 for the selected CSI-RS physical channel.

Default: 12

L1 Symbol - Sets the time-domain location L1 for the selected CSI-RS physical channel.

Default: 0

Power Boosting - Sets the relative power boosting (in dB) of the selected CSI-RS physical channel.

Default: 0 dB

nID - Sets the nID for CSI-RS sequence generation.

Default: 0

Enable Antenna Port Number - Enables or disables physical resource mapping for the selected CSI-RS.

Default: disabled

Antenna Port Number - Sets the number of antenna ports for the selected CSI-RS.

Default: 4

Choices: 1, 2, 4, 8, 12, 16, 24, 32

Table Row Index - Displays the row index of the CSI-RS location table (38.211 Table 7.4.1.5.3-1), which is determined by the selected number of ports in the Antenna Port Number setting and the selected CDM Type and Frequency Domain Bitmap.

Default: 4

Choices: 1-16

Frequency Domain Bitmap - Sets the CSI-RS frequency-domain location using a bitmap. The available CDM types depend on the Table Row Index of the CSI-RS location table (see 38.211 Table 7.4.1.5.3-1), which is determined by the selected number of ports in the Antenna Port Number setting.

Default: 001 (Row4,k0=0)

Choices: depends on the Table Row Index

CDM Type - Sets the CDM type for the selected CSI-RS. The available CDM types depend on the Table Row Index of the CSI-RS location table (see 38.211 Table 7.4.1.5.3-1), which is determined by the selected number of ports in the Antenna Port Number setting.

Default: FD-CDM2

Choices: No CDM, FD-CDM2, CDM4 (FD2,TD2), CDM8 (FD2,TD4)

Density - Sets the Density of the selected CSI-RS. The available density choices depend on the Table Row Index of the CSI-RS location table (see 38.211 Table 7.4.1.5.3-1), which is determined by the selected number of ports in the Antenna Port Number setting and the selected CDM Type and Frequency Domain Bitmap.

Default: One (RB)

Choices: Three (RBs), One (RB), 0.5 (Even RB), 0.5 (Odd RB)

Reference Antenna Port - Sets the antenna port to be used as the reference. The Ref. Antenna Port and Ref. Meas. Channel settings are used to determine a reference for per-path metrics presented in the CSI-RS MIMO Info summary table. This affects both single input channel measurements of multi-port transmissions, and multiple input channel measurements of multi-port transmissions.

Default: 3000

Choices: 3000-3031

Ant. Det. Threshold - Sets the threshold for antenna port detection to ignore antenna paths with too low SNR Signal-to-Noise Ratio. The average antenna port power needs to be above the antenna detection threshold compared to the reference path power in order for that antenna port to be detected by the demodulator as being present in a measurement channel.

Default: -36 dB
