Correlation Time

Menu Path: Trace > Data > Channel

Correlation Time is the cross-correlation between the Acquisition Time trace and a reference pulse shape. The correlation reference pulse shape can be set using the Set Correlation Reference From Register properties on the Correlation tab of the Pulse Properties dialog.

Before calculating the cross-correlation, the reference pulse is windowed usingCorrelation Reference Window. Correlation Time will have peaks where the input signal is similar to the reference pulse shape, and is generally small everywhere else. The more similar a pulse is to the reference pulse, the larger and narrower the peak for that pulse will be. The scalar metrics Peak Rho, Peak Sidelobe Level, Peak Sidelobe Location, Compression Ratio, and Mainlobe Width are all computed from the Correlation Time trace.
