Measurement Status Messages
Measurement status messages appear at the bottom left of the 89600 VSA window. The messages provide information about the current measurements.
You can hover the mouse over the status bar to view status for all measurements or you can click the up/down arrows to cycle through the measurements' status.
Below is a list of status messages with links to their descriptions.

If a negative trigger delay is specified, the VSA must collect a certain amount of data to perform a valid measurement when it receives a trigger signal. If acquiring the data will take very long (more than a few seconds), the VSA displays this message. |
The VSA has finished an averaged measurement. |
The VSA is making an averaged measurement. |
3G status message. These messages are indicators of what is happening during various stages of a W-CDMA Code Division Multiple Access: One of several digital wireless transmission methods in which signals are encoded using a specific pseudo-random sequence, or code, to define a communication channel. A receiver, knowing the code, can use it to decode the received signal in the presence of other signals in the channel. This is one of several "spread spectrum" techniques, which allows multiple users to share the same radio frequency spectrum by assigning each active user an unique code. CDMA offers improved spectral efficiency over analog transmission in that it allows for greater frequency reuse. Other characteristics of CDMA systems reduce dropped calls, increase battery life and offer more secure transmission. See also IS-95. or cdma2000 demodulation. |

When you start a real-time measurement that has a long time-record length, the status bar shows "Filling Time Record" until the time record is filled. For real-time measurements, the VSA is able to process the time record as it's being filled. "Filling Time Record" informs you that the time record being processed (and displayed) is not a full time record. In some cases, such as digital demod operations, the VSA acquires extra data before and after filling the time record. The display does not change when the VSA is collecting data outside the time record. |

A measurement has been paused. You can continue the measurement by clicking the Pause button or start a new measurement by clicking the Start button. |
The VSA is making an unaveraged, non-real-time measurement. |
Noise Correction is turned on and a noise correction measurement is in progress. |
Indicates a measurement is not currently runnable because of hardware conflicts with the measurements in the Runnable collection. |
The VSA input is from a recording. |
The VSA has finished a real-time averaged measurement. |
The VSA is making a real-time averaged measurement. |
The VSA is making a real-time measurement. |
The VSA is making a measurement with Signal Tracking turned on. |
The VSA is making a measurement from Simulated hardware. |
3G status message. These messages are indicators of what is happening during various stages of a W-CDMA or cdma2000 demodulation. |
The VSA is making a measurement from an ADS/SystemVue hardware configuration. | |
The VSA is waiting for the frequency reference to be locked before making a measurement. |
The VSA is waiting for internal digital filters to settle before starting the measurement. |
The VSA is waiting for trigger conditions to be met before starting a measurement. |
