Using Equalization (802.11b/g DSSS/CCK/PBCC)

Select the Equalize check box to apply the VSA's equalization filter to your measurement.

Equalization uses the measured signals preamble to determine the coefficients of the equalization filter.

Selecting a Frequency Span

For best results, select a frequency span that contains all energy of your signal. If significant energy from your signal falls outside of the displayed frequency span, equalization may not work on your signal.

Equalization Parameters

The length of the equalize filter can be defined (in chips) with the Filter Length. The Equalize check box controls whether the filter is applied to the measurement data or not.

Phase Drift effects

Frequency drift can cause poor equalizer performance. The Track Phase demodulation parameter can be used to remove the phase drift, which may improve equalizer results (MeasSetup > IEEE 802.11b/g Demod Properties > Advanced tab > Track Phase check box).

Viewing Impulse Response or Frequency Response

View the impulse response or the frequency response of the equalized channel by clicking Trace > Data and selecting EQ Impulse Response or Ch Frequency Response.
