Core Software

Core Software is a subscription for the main feature of firmware. Keysight updates the firmware to provide the new features. You can update the firmware from Keysight.com website with no charge, however, the valid Core Software is required to use some new features. Each applications also requires their subscription to get the new features on its application.  See Software Support. The S96201B/202B Core Software will be pre-installed for the E5080B orders after around December 2022.

*OPT?  Behavior for Application Software

The *OPT? SCPI command returns not only the hardware option but also the application software option. It returns the hardware options as three digit number. However, it does not return full application software product number, such as S9xxxxB.

The following table shows how the common option numbers map to the option numbers reported when using *OPT? command. Use SYST:CAP:LIC:CAT? if you need full application software number.
