RTCH Channel Power (CPOW) Measurement Description

Last Updated: August 29, 2007

This topic describes the Reverse Traffic Channel (RTCH) Channel Power measurement. RTCH Channel Power is a measurement in the Reverse Traffic Channel measurement suite.

How is a RTCH Channel Power Measurement Made?

The RTCH Channel Power measurement is used to determine the total integrated power in a cdma2000 or 1xEV-DO reverse channel with a power spectral density of 1.23 MHz.

Tests performed using the Channel Power measurement include:

The test set measures the RTCH Channel Power by analyzing the downconverted received signal from the wireless device. The test set then locates the portions of the received signal that are non-gated and calculates the power within a 1.23 MHz bandwidth. This result is cross-correlated with the digital average power (measured at the RF IN/OUT port) to derive an absolute power which is represented in the measurement's result (dBm/1.23 MHz).

The measurement period used for this measurement is 1 power control group (1.25 ms) for a cdma2000 RTCH Channel Power measurement, and 1 slot (1.667 ms) for a 1xEV-DO RTCH Channel Power Power measurement.

RTCH Measurement Parameters

The RTCH Channel Power is a measurement in the Reverse Traffic Channel measurement suite. See Reverse Traffic Channel Measurement Suite Measurement Parameters for details of the parameters that apply to measurements in the suite.

RTCH Channel Power Measurement Results

Integrity Indicator

This result provides the integrity indicator for the Reverse Traffic Channel measurement suite. Normal indicates that the measurement suite completed successfully without error and the result is accurate. For details of other integrity indicators, see Measurement Integrity Indicator.

SCPI command: FETCh:CRTChannel:INTegrity?

Channel Power Result

This result provides the RTCH Channel Power in dBm/1.23 MHz. If the Multi-Measurement Count is enabled, the average RTCH Channel Power result is returned; otherwise a single measurement result is returned.

SCPI command: FETCh:CRTChannel:CPOWer[:PARTial]?, or FETCh:CRTChannel:CPOWer:ALL?

Minimum

This result provides the minimum RTCH Channel Power dBm/1.23 MHz measured during a multi-measurement. This result is not displayed on the front panel when the Multi-Measurement Count is Off.

SCPI command: FETCh:CRTChannel:CPOWer:ALL?

Maximum

This result provides the maximum RTCH Channel Power dBm/1.23 MHz measured during a multi-measurement. This result is not displayed on the front panel when the Multi-Measurement Count is Off.

SCPI command: FETCh:CRTChannel:CPOWer:ALL?

Std Dev

This result provides the standard deviation of the RTCH Channel Power dB measured during a multi-measurement. This result is not displayed on the front panel when the Multi-Measurement Count is Off.

SCPI command: FETCh:CRTChannel:CPOWer:ALL?

RTCH Channel Power Input Signal Requirements

RTCH Channel Power is a measurement in the Reverse Traffic Channel measurement suite. See Reverse Traffic Channel Input Signal Requirements for details of the input signal requirements that apply to all measurements in the suite.
