TX Spurious Emissions Measurement Description

Last Updated: August 29, 2007

This topic describes the TX Spurious Emissions Measurement. TX Spurious Emissions is a measurement in the Reverse Traffic Channel (RTCH) Measurement Suite.

How is a TX Spurious Emissions Measurement Made?

The TX Spurious Emissions is a measure of the wireless device's transmitted signal at frequencies that are outside the assigned channel.

Tests performed using the TX Spurious Emissions measurement include:

The TX Spurious Emissions measurement is made by first making a channel power measurement centered on the assigned channel, to determine carrier power. The test set then measures the power at four frequencies offset from the center of the assigned channel. The test set then measures the average power contained in each frequency offset.

For cdma2000 signals, the average power measured at each frequency offset is measured over 1 power control group within a 30 kHz filter, the edge of which begins on the offset frequency.

For 1xEV-DO signals, the average power measured at each frequency offset is measured over 1 slot within a 30 kHz filter, the edge of which begins on the offset frequency.

The test set reports the power of each frequency offset relative to the carrier power (in dBc) for all band classes except the Secondary 800 MHz Band (Band Class 10), which is reported as an absolute frequency (dBm).

The figure above shows the four frequency offsets from the carrier that are measured during a TX Spurious Emissions Measurement. The four offset frequencies at which the channel power is measured depends on the wireless device's band class.

TX Spurious Emissions Measurement Results

Integrity Indicator

This result provides the integrity indicator for the Reverse Traffic Channel measurement suite. Normal indicates that the measurement suite completed successfully without error and the result is accurate. For details of other integrity indicators, see Measurement Integrity Indicator.

SCPI command: FETCh:CRTChannel:INTegrity?

Pass/Fail Result

The result indicates whether the TX Spurious Emissions measurement passes or fails. If any TX Spurious Emissions exceed the mask margins, the whole measurement fails.

SCPI commands: FETCh:CRTChannel:TXSPurious[:PARTial]?, or FETCh:CRTChannel:TXSPurious:ALL?

In-Channel Power Result

This result provides the RTCH Channel Power in dBm/1.23 MHz. If the Multi-Measurement Count is enabled, the average RTCH Channel Power result is returned; otherwise a single measurement result is returned.

SCPI command: FETCh:CRTChannel:TXSPurious:ALL?

Lower Alternate Channel Power Result

This result provides the Lower Alternate offset power measured during a TX Spurious Emissions measurement. The test set reports the measured power atf each frequency offset relative to the carrier power (in dBc) for all band classes except the Secondary 800 MHz Band (Band Class 10), which is reported as an absolute frequency (dBm). If the Multi-Measurement Count is enabled, the average result is returned; otherwise a single measurement result is returned.

SCPI command:FETCh:CRTChannel:TXSPurious:LOWer:ALTernate?, or FETCh:CRTChannel:TXSPurious:ALL?

Lower Adjacent Channel Power Result

This result provides the Lower Adjacent offset power measured during a TX Spurious Emissions measurement. The test set reports the measured power at frequency offset relative to the carrier power (in dBc) for all band classes except the Secondary 800 MHz Band (Band Class 10), which is reported as an absolute frequency (dBm). If the Multi-Measurement Count is enabled, the average result is returned; otherwise a single measurement result is returned.

SCPI command: FETCh:CRTChannel:TXSPurious:LOWer:ADJacent?, or FETCh:CRTChannel:TXSPurious:ALL?

Upper Adjacent Channel Power Result

This result provides the Upper Adjacent offset power measured at during a TX Spurious Emissions measurement.

SCPI command:FETCh:CRTChannel:TXSPurious:UPPer:ADJacent?, or FETCh:CRTChannel:TXSPurious:ALL?

Upper Alternate Channel Power Result

This result provides the Upper Alternate offset power measured during a TX Spurious Emissions measurement. The test set reports the measured power at each frequency offset relative to the carrier power (in dBc) for all band classes except the Secondary 800 MHz Band (Band Class 10), which is reported as an absolute frequency (dBm). If the Multi-Measurement Count is enabled, the average result is returned; otherwise a single measurement result is returned.

SCPI command: FETCh:CRTChannel:TXSPurious:UPPer:ALTernate?, or FETCh:CRTChannel:TXSPurious:ALL?
