The test set is equipped with a Self Test capability that determines if the analog hardware is operating correctly. Self Test returns a Pass or Fail result but does not identify faulty hardware.
Diagnostic capability that identifies the faulty hardware is available in the N5891A Test Set Repair Tools software.
It takes about 90 seconds to complete a Self Test. Perform a Self Test any time you suspect the E6601A test set is faulty.

Self Test is part of the System Tools application.
Switch to the System Tools application
Press the Config key on the front panel
Press the Application Switch soft key
Select System Tools from the Selected Application menu
Press the Switch Application soft key
Press the Selftest soft key on the System Tools Main screen
Press the Run soft key
