4. General Safety

When working on the DCA-X, DCA-M, and other instruments, always observe the safety information presented in the topics. When operating these instruments, avoid costly repairs by following these guidelines:

  • Always use ESD precautions.
  • Observe the maximum RF inputs level for front-panel connectors which are documented in the module introductory topics, printed on remote heads, and often printed on the front panel next to the RF connector.
  • Prevent cable discharge damage. Before connecting any coaxial cable to the front-panel input connectors, momentarily short the cable's center and outer conductors together.
  • Avoid touching the front-panel input connectors without first touching the instrument's frame.
