Subchannel Group Bitmask (802.16 OFDMA)

Default: 63 (See OFDMA Standard Presets Table.)

(applies to Downlink & DL-PUSC zones only)

Subchannel Group Bitmask specifies which subchannel groups are allocated to the segment. The DL-PUSC Zone Definition provides 6 subchannel groups which specify the number of used subchannels and how they are mapped to subcarriers for analysis of DL Down Link (forward link: from base station to cell phone)-PUSC partial usage of subchannels: Some of the subchannels are allocated to the transmitter. data bursts

This feature is only available in Data Burst Analysis mode when using Manual or Map fileDefinition Source modes. When using Auto-detect Definition Source mode the Subchannel Group Bitmask is automatically determined from the FCH of the analyzed waveform.

Measurement TIP

Zone Boosting compensation for DL-PUSC zones is performed automatically by the VSA. When a DL-PUSC signal does not use all subchannel groups (one or more of the Subchannel Group Bitmask bits is not used) and Zone Boosting is not used by the waveform, then a mis-scaled constellation and high EVM Error vector magnitude (EVM): A quality metric in digital communication systems. See the EVM metric in the Error Summary Table topic in each demodulator for more information on how EVM is calculated for that modulation format. will result. You can correct the measurement impairments can be corrected and a good measurement made by configuring the VSA to use Track Amplitude Pilot Tracking on the Advanced tab.
