SHR Parameters (802.15.4 HRP UWB)

The SHR Parameters group configures the UWB synchronization header (SHR).

The SHR contains two sections, the SYNC section and the SFD Start frame delimiter (start-of-frame delimiter) section. Both sections consist of repetitions of a sync symbol (Si), which is a sequence of pulses based on the selected code. The number of repetitions of Si depends on the SYNC Length and the SFD Length. The SYNC section contains simple repetitions of Si, but the SFD section multiplies each Si symbol by one of the values (0, 1, -1), according to the standard.

Code Index defines which code sequence to use. The code index determines the sequence that is spread to create the Si symbol. There are 32 possible codes: codes 1-8 are length 31(available only in Non-ERDEV and HPRF modes); codes 9-24 are length 127 (available in all modes); codes 25-32 are length 91 (available only in HPRF mode). Not all code indexes are available for each channel. The selected Channel also determines the available codes. See Table 16-4, Table 16-6 and Table 16-7 of the IEEE Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. A US-based membership organisation that includes engineers, scientists, and students in electronics and related fields. The IEEE developed the 802 series wired and wireless LAN standards. Visit the IEEE at http://www.ieee.org 802.15.4 standard for more information.

Range: 1-32 (depending on Channel and ERDEV mode selections)

Default: 1

Delta Length (L) determines the upsample ratio (zero interpolation) of the code to create a sync symbol (Si). Length 127 or 91 codes (Code Index 9-32) can only be used with L=4 spreading. Available Delta Length choices also depend on which Channel is selected, as described in Table 16-4 of the IEEE 802.15.4 standard.

Choices: 4, 16, 64

Default: 16

SYNC Length sets the number of Si symbols used to comprise the SYNC portion of the SHR.

Choices: Supported PHY Physical Layer Modes:
16 symbols All
24 symbols ERDEV-BPRF, ERDEV-HPRF
32 symbols ERDEV-BPRF, ERDEV-HPRF
48 symbols ERDEV-BPRF, ERDEV-HPRF
64 symbols All (Default)
96 symbols ERDEV-BPRF, ERDEV-HPRF
128 symbols ERDEV-BPRF, ERDEV-HPRF
256 symbols ERDEV-BPRF, ERDEV-HPRF
512 symbols ERDEV-BPRF
1024 symbols Non-ERDEV, ERDEV-BPRF
4096 symbols Non-ERDEV, ERDEV-BPRF

Default: 64 symbols

The SFD Parameters group controls the SFD portion of the SHR. The parameters may change depending on the selected PHY Mode.

Length (Non-ERDEV PHY Mode only) sets the number of Si symbols—each symbol multiplied by one of the values (0, 1, -1)—used to comprise the SFD portion of the SHR.

Choices: Short (8 symbols), Long (64 symbols)

Default: Long (64 symbols)

SFD # (ERDEV-BPRF and ERDEV-HPRF PHY Modes only) selects which SFD sequence defined in the standard to use.

Choices: 0, 2 (ERDEV-BPRF); 1-4 (ERDEV-HPRF)

Default: 0 (ERDEV-BPRF), 1 (ERDEV-HPRF)

Length (Si symbols) is a read-only length indicator that shows SFD Length in Si symbols.
