Selecting LTE Test Models
The LTE Long Term Evolution demodulator comes with setup files for the LTE Test Models defined in 3GPP TS Technical Specification 36.141, Section 6.1.1. These setup files contain settings for all the LTE demodulator parameters as well as the user allocations and can be used to configure the LTE demodulator to make the measurements for the desired test model.
These setup files are especially useful when analyzing TDD Time Division Duplex: A duplexing technique dividing a radio channel in time to allow downlink operation during part of the frame period and uplink operation in the remainder of the frame period. test model signals generated by Signal Studio. This is because TDD test model signals are multi-frame signals, but Signal Studio setup files only contain one frame of user allocations.
Test Models
The E-UTRA Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access test models are downlink, single-antenna port signals using Normal CP length. In addition, the test models do not use frequency hopping. For FDD Frequency Division Duplex: A duplex scheme in which uplink and downlink transmissions use different frequencies but are typically simultaneous., the analysis interval is one frame. For TDD, the analysis interval is two frames, uplink/downlink configuration is set to 3, and special subframe configuration is set to 8.
There are six test models defined. Each one has the same signal parameters for TDD and FDD, except that the user allocations are different.
Below is a list of the test models.
- E-UTRA UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access: A W-CDMA standard developed ETSI, ARIB and the TIA. This system uses DSSS and either FDD or TDD depending on its frequency assignment and application. Test Model 1.1
- E-UTRA Test Model 1.2
- E-UTRA Test Model 2
- E-UTRA Test Model 3.1
- E-UTRA Test Model 3.2
- E-UTRA Test Model 3.3
The setup files for these test models have been provided under the %PROGRAMFILES%\Keysight\89600 Software <ReleaseVersion>\89600 VSA Software\Help\Signals\LTE\E-TM directory. Recalling the setup file will configure the VSA to measure the appropriate E-TM signal.
