N6841A Setup
For detailed information on the N6841A RF Radio Frequency: A generic term for radio-based technologies, operating between the Low Frequency range (30k Hz) and the Extra High Frequency range (300 GHz). Sensor, see the documentation shipped with the sensor.
The following setup parameters are discussed in this topic:
Custom Channel Configurations |
Channels: The 89600 VSA software supports one channel per N6841A.
Coupling: For RF measurements, only AC coupling is available.
Frequency: The limits for frequency parameters are 20 MHz Megahertz: A unit of frequency equal to one million hertz or cycles per second. - 6 GHz Gigahertz: A frequency measurement which equals one billion hertz..
Hardware: N6841A is listed as a Possible Logical Instrument as long as there is communication between the VSA and the N6841A.
See LAN/GPIB Connection Problems for help with potential problems, such as long startup times and/or unexpected behavior.
Overlap: The N6841A does not support overlap processing. However, overlap processing is available during recording playback.
Custom Channel Configurations: The Custom Channel Configurations dialog ( ) is used to create custom channel mapping configurations, that is, you can reconfigure the hardware input channel to VSA measurement channel connections. The VSA only allows valid channel configuration mappings; "invalid" channel configuration mappings are disallowed (indicated by a red "X") and the "OK" button is disabled "greyed out".
Preset: When you preset setup in the VSA, these settings are different from those listed under Preset Setup. (Any parameters not listed here are set to the same value as those listed under Preset Setup)

Range: The input range can be adjusted from -42 dBm to +20 dBm.
Recording: The VSA records time data from the N6841A hardware to your PC's disk drive. The length of time waveform recording is limited to the time waveform length limit of the N6841A.
Span: The maximum span is 20 MHz.
Triggering: The N6841A does not support triggers.
