Modulation Scheme (W-CDMA(3GPP)/HSPA)

Default: Auto Detect (See W-CDMA(3GPP) Standard Presets Table.)

Modulation Scheme chooses how the VSA demodulates the HS PDSCH Physical Downlink Shared Channel High Speed Physical Downlink Shared Channel corresponding to one channelization code of fixed spreading factor equal to 16. Select either Automatic or Manual detection mode. Automatic uses the internal algorithm to determine the modulation type. However, if the VSA is not detecting the correct format, use Manual mode. Manual mode overrides the automatic modulation detection and specify QPSK Quadrature phase shift keying, 16QAM or 64QAM modulation to be used with the de-spread Code Channel for Channel results. This feature can be used to generate correct Channel results when the Composite modulation detection algorithm fails. In the uplink this chooses how the VSA demodulates the E-DPDCH Dedicated Physical Data Channel Enhanced Dedicated Physical Data Channel I or Q or I/Q combined with SF 1) Spreading Factor, or 2) service flow: A unidirectional flow of medium access control (MAC) service data units (SDUs) on a connection that is provided a particular Quailty of Service (QoS). of 2 or 4. Manual Mode allows you to override and specify BPSK Binary phase shift keying - A type of phase modulation using 2 distinct carrier phases to signal ones and zeros. or 4PAM modulation.

This feature is only applicable for HSPA analysis: Enable HSPA Analysis selected [MeasSetup > W-CDMA(3GPP)/HSPA Demod Properties > Format tab > Enable HSPA Analysis] and the Spread Code Length listed in the table below.

The Automatic and Manual modulation schemes support the following HSPA channels and modulation schemes:

I, Q, IQ: BPSK, 4-PAM pulse amplitude modulation: A technique for encoding the samples of an analog waveform as part of the PCM process. Also used to display the amplitude of QAM signals in an eye diagram. I branch Q (BPSK)
  4 (960.00 ksym/s) I, Q, IQ: BPSK, 4-PAM I branch Q (BPSK)

Automatic: The detected downlink HS PDSCH active channels and the uplink E-DPDCH active channels will be automatically examined to determine the modulation scheme.

Manual: Overrides the automatic modulation detection and lets you specify the downlink HS PDSCH or the uplink E-DPDCH modulation scheme, to be used with the despread Code Channel for Channel measurement results.
