Test Model (W-CDMA(3GPP)/HSPA)

Default: None (See W-CDMA(3GPP) Standard Setups/Presets Table.)

Test Model provides a method to override the automatic active code channel detection algorithm with known 3GPP test models. Specifies a 3GPP Test Model to use as the basis for the reference signal in W-CDMA Code Division Multiple Access: One of several digital wireless transmission methods in which signals are encoded using a specific pseudo-random sequence, or code, to define a communication channel. A receiver, knowing the code, can use it to decode the received signal in the presence of other signals in the channel. This is one of several "spread spectrum" techniques, which allows multiple users to share the same radio frequency spectrum by assigning each active user an unique code. CDMA offers improved spectral efficiency over analog transmission in that it allows for greater frequency reuse. Other characteristics of CDMA systems reduce dropped calls, increase battery life and offer more secure transmission. See also IS-95. analysis. This bypasses the automatic active channel identification section of the W-CDMA analysis algorithm. Test Model setting is useful when a known Test Model signal is being used or whentrying to understand the problems of a signal intended to match a known 3GPP Test Model.

The Test Model parameters only apply to the Downlink signals.

The VSA selects from the following list of predefined transmitter Test Model configurations as defined in Section 6.1.1 of the 3GPP TS Technical Specification.25.141 V5.7.0 (2003-06) Rel 5 technical specification. Channels specified by a Test Model number are always detected as active regardless of the power level or modulation quality.

None (default): Does not use a Test Model for automatic active channel detection

Test Model 1: Allows further selections of Test Model 1 with 16, 32 or 64 DPCH Dedicated Physical Channel channels and to select a Test Model with or without S-CCPCH Common Control Physical Channel.

Test Model 2: Allows further selections of Test Model 2, with or without S-CCPCH:

Test Model 3: Allows further selections from Test Model 3 with 16 or 32 DPCH channels and to select a Test Model with or without S-CCPCH.

Test Model 4: Allow further selections of Test Model 4, with or without P CPICH Common Pilot Channel:.

Test Model 5 †: Allow further selections of Test Model 5 with 2, 4, or 8 HS-PDSCH High Speed Physical Downlink Shared Channel channels.

Test Model 6 †: Set the active channel detection to the Test Model 6 with 8-64QAM HS-PDSSCH with 30 DPCH

† Test Model 5 and Test Model 6 requires that the the VSA is set to HSPA mode (Enable HSPA analysis property is selected) and the Downlink direction is selected.
