Trace Smoothing

Trace smoothing averages a number of adjacent data points to smooth the displayed trace. The number of adjacent data points that get averaged together is also known as the smoothing aperture. You can specify aperture as either the number of data points or the percentage of the x-axis span.

How to perform Trace Smoothing

  1. Select a trace to be smoothed. If viewing more than one trace in a plot, select the trace label to the right of the plot window.

  2. Right-click, then click Trace Smoothing.

  1. In the adjacent selector, choose from the following:
  1. Check Smoothing ON to enable smoothing.
  2. Enter either the Percent of Span to use for the smoothing aperture, or select the number of data Points to use for the smoothing aperture.

  3. Export Smoothed Data - Starts the Export Data dialog. Learn more.
