The instrument must have the required Signal Studio software option licenses.
Turn on the instrument and the computer.
Start the Test Case Manager software.
In the tree window, select the instrument (i.e.; Signal Generator, PXB) that will be controlled by Test Case Manager.
For example,click the Hardware and Connection Settings
node.
Enter the VISA Address, in the instrument Settings window:
Click the VISA Address field:
for the PXB instrument selection, it shows as PXB VISA Address
This procedure only checks the connection between the PXB and the software, not the signal generators connected to the PXB and shown in the PXB Setting window as SG1...n VISA Address
The software populates the SGn VISA Address fields with default values, they are not real addresses.
for the Signal Generator instrument selection, it shows as VISA Address
In VISA Address field, enter the instrument's LAN or GPIB address.
Use the hint that appears at the bottom of the window to view examples of entering a LAN or GPIB address. If you are using LAN, just highlight IP Address in the default settings and enter the LAN address.
When entering the address, ensure that all colons (used in both TCPIP and GPIB connections) are present in the completed VISA address
If you are running Test Case Manager on the PXB, use ”localhost” in the VISA Address field .
"localhost" is the default setting for the software.
If you are running Test Case Manager on a PC connected to the PXB, use the PXB's address (LAN/GPIB) or hostname (LAN only)

If the connection fails or for help with error messages, refer to Troubleshooting.
Use the Test Connection button to connect to the instrument identified in the VISA Address setting.
If the connection is successful, the connection status of the instrument changes to Connected.
