Change of TFC (Transport Format Combination) Troubleshooting

Possible Setup Issues

Before performing the change of TFC measurement, you must ensure the following:

Operating Mode= Active Cell Operating Mode . -
Current Service Type= Radio Bearer Test Mode (you must be on anRB Test Modeconnection). - This measurement is not supported on HSDPA or HSPA connections.

Uplink Dummy DCCH Data

Off. - Initial output level of your UE is such that its output power level with DPDCH on and off falls within the measurement's required input level (see Change of TFC Measurement Input Signal Requirements ).

The following settings are recommended based on the 3GPP TS 34.121 5.6 requirements:

UE Target Power

are (automatically) set to the values specified by the standards (for example, 0.5333 and 1.0 for 12.2k RMC).

UE Target Power

- During front panel operation of this measurement, you must press the START SINGLE key to initiate the measurement.
- The change of TFC measurement is triggered when the TFCI indicates no data is present on the DPDCH. If the UE does not properly set the TFCI bit to indicate when data is present on the DPDCH, the measurement will hang. To prevent the measurement from hanging indefinitely, set the Measurement Timeout . You can reset the measurement, if needed, by pressing the MEASUREMENT RESET key.
- This measurement does not provide valid results while on a faded channel (see Digital Bus Information ).
Other Considerations
- No other measurements can run while a change of TFC measurement is being performed. If any measurements are running when a change of TFC measurement is initiated, they are closed and a message is displayed to indicate that they were closed. Likewise, if any other measurements are initiated while a change of TFC measurement is running, the change of TFC measurement is closed and a message is displayed.
- Ensure that the UE is meeting the Change of TFC Measurement Input Signal Requirements .
- The change of TFC measurement must be properly calibrated (see Change of TFC Measurement Calibration )
