Source and target not connected to LAN
Follow this procedure to transport a license when both the source and the target are not connected to a LAN.
In this procedure, source and target refer to either an 86100D or PC. Licenses purchased for installation on an 86100D can only be transported to another 86100D. Similarly, licenses purchased for installation on a PC can only be transported to another PC.
- On the source, start Keysight License Manager.
- In the Tree View, select the license to be transported. Click File > Transport… to open the Transport One or More Licenses dialog.
- Since the target is off line, keep the Destination Host as <offline>. Click the Transport button and click Yes to verify the transport.
- The Transportation Confirmation dialog opens, which indicates that the license was deleted from localhost and shows the confirmation code. This dialog also specifies a path and the Transport Confirmation file ( .url) so that you can rehost the license at a later time.
- Click Explore to view the file, or click the OK to return to the ALM main window.
- On the source,
- Connect an external, portable mass storage device such as a USB flash drive, an external hard drive, or a writable CD.
- Copy the .url file, created in Step 4, to the portable mass storage device.
- Disconnect the portable mass storage device and connect it to a PC that has internet connectivity.
- Using Windows Explorer on the PC, locate the Transport Confirmation file file on the portable mass storage device and double-click it.
- The Transport Confirmation file file appears in a browser that is connected to the Keysight Transport License Web Service. Note that the fields are automatically filled in with the license contents.
- On the Keysight Transport License Web Service page, type the target's Host ID (model number, serial number) and then click Submit.
- The Keysight Transport License Web Service displays a link for the (re-issued) license. On the license link, right-click the link and select Save Target As.
- Save the license file to a location on the portable mass storage device.
- Disconnect the portable mass storage device from the PC and connect it to the target.
- On the target,
- Start Keysight License Manager.
- In Keysight License Manager, select the target in the Tree View.
- Open Windows Explorer, and using the connected portable storage device, drag the license file into the Tree View. Or, you could alternatively copy the license file from Windows Explorer and paste it into the target system in the Tree View.
