Modulation (Flex Frame)
Modulation is a sub-tab of the Component Carrier Configuration parameter group, and contains parameters that configure the modulation and scrambling used by the component carrier's allocations. Each component carrier has its own modulation configuration.
selects the standard to use as the basis for bit mapping into an allocation's constellation type chosen using the Modulation parameter, which is necessary for accurate Tx BER Bit Error Ratio - A ratio of the number of errors to data bits received on a digital circuit. measurements.
This parameter sets the preferred bit to symbol mapping. If a standard doesn't specify a bit mapping for a particular constellation type, the Default bit mapping will be used. Bit mapping provided by a Custom Modulation will override the Preferred Bit to Symbol Mapping.
-
Default- Selects bit mapping that is not standard-specific.
The VSA software comes with a set of default bit mappings that you can recall in the Keysight N7608C Signal Studio Pro for Custom Modulation software when creating a signal for use with the VSA software. See About Default Bit Mappings for more information.
-
DVB-S2X- Selects bit mapping for use with the DVB-S2X standard.
-
DVB-RCS2- Selects bit mapping for use with the DVB-RCS2 standard.
-
802.11ad/ay- Selects bit mapping for use with the 802.11ad/ay standard.
You will also want to enable Scrambling and set to 802.11ad/ay to perform the pi/2 rotation specified in the standard.
Default: Default
Choices: Default, DVB-S2X, DVB-RCS2, 802.11ad/ay
enable scrambling for the selected allocation and select the desired Scrambler ID.
adds or removes scramblers to be used with the allocations. To assign a scrambler to an allocation,- Selects between the scramblers in the collection. The number corresponds to the Scrambler ID. Select a scrambler to edit its configuration.
- Adds a scrambler to the end of the collection.
- Removes the selected scrambler from the collection
selects the scrambling sequence type
- DVB-S2/S2X PLFRAME - Selects DVB-S2/S2X PLFRAME scrambling as described in section 5.5.4 of EN 302 307-1.
- DVB-S2X Super-Frame- Selects DVB-S2X Super-Frame scrambling as described in section E.2.4 of EN 302 307-2.
- 802.11ad/ay- Selects 802.11ad/ay scrambling (pi/2 rotation as described by section 21.6.3.2.4 of the 802.11ad standard).
Default: DVB-S2/S2X PLFRAME
Choices: DVB-S2/S2X PLFRAME, DVB-S2X Super-Frame, 802.11ad/ay
(DVB-S2/S2X PLFRAME and DVB-S2X Super-Frame Sequence Types only) sets the sequence index (value of ‘n’ in the DVB-S/S2X standard).
Default: 0
(DVB-S2/S2X PLFRAME and DVB-S2X Super-Frame Sequence Types only) sets the symbol at which to reset the scrambling sequence to the beginning. This is an offset from the beginning of the frame.
Default: 0
