Modulation (Flex Frame)

Modulation is a sub-tab of the Component Carrier Configuration parameter group, and contains parameters that configure the modulation and scrambling used by the component carrier's allocations. Each component carrier has its own modulation configuration.

Preferred Bit To Symbol Mapping selects the standard to use as the basis for bit mapping into an allocation's constellation type chosen using the Modulation parameter, which is necessary for accurate Tx BER Bit Error Ratio - A ratio of the number of errors to data bits received on a digital circuit. measurements.

This parameter sets the preferred bit to symbol mapping. If a standard doesn't specify a bit mapping for a particular constellation type, the Default bit mapping will be used. Bit mapping provided by a Custom Modulation will override the Preferred Bit to Symbol Mapping.

Default: Default

Choices: Default, DVB-S2X, DVB-RCS2, 802.11ad/ay

Scrambler adds or removes scramblers to be used with the allocations. To assign a scrambler to an allocation, enable scrambling for the selected allocation and select the desired Scrambler ID.

- Selects between the scramblers in the collection. The number corresponds to the Scrambler ID. Select a scrambler to edit its configuration.

- Adds a scrambler to the end of the collection.

- Removes the selected scrambler from the collection

Scrambler Configuration

Sequence Type selects the scrambling sequence type

Default: DVB-S2/S2X PLFRAME

Choices: DVB-S2/S2X PLFRAME, DVB-S2X Super-Frame, 802.11ad/ay

Sequence Index (DVB-S2/S2X PLFRAME and DVB-S2X Super-Frame Sequence Types only) sets the sequence index (value of ‘n’ in the DVB-S/S2X standard).

Default: 0

Reset Symbol Index (DVB-S2/S2X PLFRAME and DVB-S2X Super-Frame Sequence Types only) sets the symbol at which to reset the scrambling sequence to the beginning. This is an offset from the beginning of the frame.

Default: 0
