Auto Detect Setup
Menu Path:
Auto-Detect Setup parameters are used to describe which valid LFM regions within the signal to automatically detect, synchronize to, and include within the FMCW region analysis results.
The Auto-Detect Setup parameters are only valid when Region Synchronization is set to Automatic.
-
Minimum Region Time Length
- You can specify the minimum LFM region time length, in seconds, that you want to be considered as valid for the purpose of Automatic region detection. Any measured region time length durations less than the specified time value will be considered invalid, and excluded from the FMCW region analysis results.
- To ensure that LFM regions of interest are detected as valid, it is important that you specify an appropriate Minimum Region Time Length value which is less than or equal to the smallest region time interval you want to include within the FMCW region analysis results.
- Default value: 10 us
-
Max Region Time Length
- When Max Region Time Length is enabled, you can specify the maximum LFM region time length, in seconds, to be considered valid for the purpose of Automatic region detection. Any measured region time length durations greater than the specified time value will be considered invalid, and excluded from the FMCW region analysis results.
- When Max Region Time Length is disabled, no maximum LFM region time length validation checks are applied.
- Default: Off
- Default value when enabled: 1 ms
-
Min Region FM Frequency Modulation Slope
- When Min Region FM Slope is enabled, you can specify the minimum LFM region slope rate, in Hz/us, to be considered valid for the purpose of Automatic region detection. Any measured region FM slope rates less than the specified FM slope value will be considered invalid, and excluded from the FMCW region analysis results.
-
Both positive and negative LFM slope rate limit values are supported (i.e. A limit value of 0 Hz/us would equate to an unmodulated CW region within the FMCW region-group pattern, positive Hz/us values equate to increasing LFM modulation ramps, negative Hz/us values equate to decreasing LFM frequency ramps).
- When Min Region FM Slope is disabled, no minimum LFM region slope rate validation checks are applied.
- Default: Off
- Default value when enabled: -100 MHz Megahertz: A unit of frequency equal to one million hertz or cycles per second./us
-
Max Region FM Slope
- When Max Region FM Slope is enabled, you can specify the maximum LFM region slope rate, in Hz/us, to be considered valid for the purpose of Automatic region detection. Any measured region FM slope rates greater than the specified FM slope value will be considered invalid, and excluded from the FMCW region analysis results.

The illustration below shows Auto-Detect Setup used to select which LFM regions are valid. In this example:
- Minimum Region Time Length = 5 us
- Max Region Time Length = 15 us
- Limit Min FM Slope = 0 Hz/us
- Limit Max FM Slope = 8 MHz/us
