Selecting W-CDMA(3GPP)/HSPA Demodulation

(Option B7N only.)

W-CDMA (3GPP)/HSPAdemodulates signals (uplink and downlink) that are compliant to 3GPP Technical Specifications.

Configure the demodulator

After selecting the demodulator, the configuration parameters must be set. The VSA can automatically configure the demodulator by selecting one of the available Standard Setups/Presets or it can be manually configured from the W-CDMA (3GPP)/HSPA Demod Properties dialog box.

Reviewing the Setting up a W-CDMA(3GPP) Measurement topic is recommended before setting these parameters.

HSPA modulated signals

To demodulate and analyze HSPA signals, select the Enable HSPA analysis property in the Format tab of the W-CDMA (3GPP)/HSPA Demod Properties dialog box. See also the Setting up a HSPA Measurement topic.

Example recordings

The 89600 VSA includes several example W-CDMA Code Division Multiple Access: One of several digital wireless transmission methods in which signals are encoded using a specific pseudo-random sequence, or code, to define a communication channel. A receiver, knowing the code, can use it to decode the received signal in the presence of other signals in the channel. This is one of several "spread spectrum" techniques, which allows multiple users to share the same radio frequency spectrum by assigning each active user an unique code. CDMA offers improved spectral efficiency over analog transmission in that it allows for greater frequency reuse. Other characteristics of CDMA systems reduce dropped calls, increase battery life and offer more secure transmission.
