Waveform playback can be performed with two ESGs/PSGs or two DSIMs, using two N5101A-022 PCI cards (with Option 022) and running two instances of the N5110B software. The initial instance of the N5110B software supports all of the Capture, RF Playback and Digital Playback capabilities, but the second instance only supports the Optimize for Speed parameter for DRAM playback. Subsequent instances of the software do not allow Capture and HDD playback. However, all other N5110B functionality remains the same in the second instance.

N5101A Option 022 must be installed |
Listed below is the dual-instance configuration for the N5110B Agilent Baseband Studio for waveform capture and payback software.

1: Playback
Instance
2: Playback
Set up your equipment, then start and configure the first instance of the N5110B Agilent Baseband Studio for waveform capture and playback software. The first instance allows you to select either Capture or Playback modes. See Basic Capture Setup, Basic Playback Setup or Basic RF Playback Setup.
|
The second instance of the N5110B software only allows RF Playback or Digital Playback modes. Capture is not available. |
Start the second instance of the software. The second instance determines the existence of other N5110B instance(s) and limits its capability to DRAM streaming.
Select New hardware configuration then press OK. Details...
Select Playback then press Next >. Details...
|
Be certain that the second instance of the N5110B software uses the unselected N5101A PCI card to prevent loss of data. |
Continue configuring your system as shown in Using the System Configuration Wizard.
Configure the second instance of the N5110B Agilent Baseband Studio for waveform capture and playback software for the desired playback mode. See Basic Playback Setup or Basic RF Playback Setup.
The N5110B Playback Method property is automatically set to Optimize Speed and cannot be changed.
Configure all other N5110B parameters as desired.
In the second instance of the waveform capture and playback software's tree view, click Quick Setups, then click the Save as Quick Setup button at the top of the right pane. Name the setup for later use.
|
Do not use the Last Used setting when starting the second instance of the N5110B software to prevent loss of data. |
|
When running dual instances of the N5110B software, you cannot run simultaneous Self-Tests. The Self-Test routine for instance one must finish before starting the Self-Test routine for instance two. |
Before running dual instances of the N5110B software, a warning dialog is displayed to make certain you have both instances of the software correctly configured. To disable this warning dialog when using dual-instances of the N5110B software, follow the steps below:
Create an empty text file named "N5110Bhide.txt".
Place the empty text file in the installation directory under C:\Program Files\Agilent\Baseband Studio\Capture and Playback\bin\
If the default installation directory (Step 2) is not used, be certain to place the N5110Bhide.txt file in the correct location.
|
The content of the N5110Bhide.txt file does not matter. The software simply looks for the existence of the file in the executing directory. |
