Jitter Spectrum Analysis and SW Clock Recovery Emulation

Feature JSA, Jitter Spectrum Analysis and SW Clock Recovery Emulation, is available on N1060A, N107X-series, or 86108A/B modules. When the module is installed in an N1000A or 86100D, Jitter spectrum analysis can be performed in FlexDCA's Oscilloscope, Eye/Mask, and Jitter FlexDCA modes. Jitter Mode requires the Research and Development Feature Package (or legacy option 200). In Jitter Mode, clock recovery emulation can be performed. Option JSA offers the following benefits:

  • Emulation of most clock recovery designs (1st or 2nd order, adjustable bandwidth and peaking) without hardware limitations.
  • Improved compliance by better emulation of existing and future standards-based CR requirements.
  • Better accuracy by removing non-ideal behavior of hardware clock recovery. For example, removing unwanted peaking that may artificially increase jitter results.
  • Improved correlation to measurements performed by real-time scopes that employ software clock recovery.

Option JSA enabled modules are identified on the module's rear-panel serial number sticker.

While the JSA feature replaces the JSA license, the JSA hardware license is still honored by FlexDCA.

Legacy Option JSA requires FlexDCA version A.01.70 and 86100D firmware version A.10.70.
