Waveform Quality Troubleshooting

Possible Setup Issues

• This measurement is not supported on HSPA connections.
• When on a non-HSDPA connection, you must set Trigger Source to any value other than HS-DPCCH .
• To measure waveform quality on an HSDPA connection, you must set Trigger Source to HS-DPCCH .
• The sum of HS-DPCCH Trigger Subslot Alignment and HS-DPCCH Measurement Interval cannot exceed 1.0 slot. If you wish to place the measurement interval after the slot boundary using the HS-DPCCH Trigger Subslot Alignment setting, you must first decrease the HS-DPCCH Measurement Interval setting appropriately.
• During remote operation of the waveform quality measurement, it is recommended that you configure the trigger arm to single. See SETup:WWQuality . If the trigger arm is not set to single, you may not be able to retrieve measurement results during remote use if you are using the INIT:DONE? query. When the trigger arm is continuous, the measurement rearms itself and starts another measurement cycle, causing the INIT:DONE? query to always return "WAIT". See Trigger Arm (Single or Continuous) Description for more explanation.
• Your UE must be synchronized to the test set for this measurement to operate correctly.
• RF In/Out Amplitude offsets entered do not affect these measurement results unless the received signal level becomes too low to accurately detect relative I/Q modulation vector transitions.
• While on a faded channel (see Digital Bus Information ), the measurement will only return valid results if Trigger Source is set to Immediate or External .
• Timing Error results are not available when Trigger Source is set to Immediate .

Other Considerations

• Only Beta _c (DPCCH) and Beta _d1 (DPDCH 1) provide results (other than NaN) while on a non-HSDPA connection. Beta _d2-6 are reserved for future use.
• Beta _hsacknak and Beta _hscqi only provide results (other than NaN) when on an HSDPA connection ( lab application or feature-licensed test application only ).
• When HS-DPCCH Trigger Slot Alignment is set to AckNack , a valid result is returned for Beta _hsacknak , NaN is returned for Beta _hscqi . Likewise, when HS-DPCCH Trigger Slot Alignment is set to CQI1 or CQI2 , a valid result is returned for Beta _hscqi , NaN is returned for Beta _hsacknak .

Interpreting Integrity Indicator Values

If Over Range (5) is returned, the measured signal exceeds the expected input level or exceeds the maximum allowed input power for the test set.

If Under Range (6) is returned, the measured signal is below the expected input level.

If Cannot Correlate (17) is returned, the test set cannot demodulate the signal from the mobile station (UE). Make sure the uplink scrambling code from the mobile station matches the UL Scrambling setting on the test set (see CALL:UPLink ).

If Uncalibrated Due to Temperature (19) is returned, the temperature in the test set has changed by ± 10° C or more since the last calibration and should be calibrated again. See Calibrating the Test Set .
