DL-MAP Decoding (802.16 OFDMA)

DL-MAP Decoding will decode the DL-MAP downlink map: A MAC message that defines burst start time for both time division multiplex and time division multiple access (TDMA) by a subscriber station (SS) on the downlink. messages of the downlink subframe and report the interpreted results in the DL-MAP Info trace. DL Down Link (forward link: from base station to cell phone)-MAP decoding will accommodate Normal or Compressed mode DL-MAP messages encoded with either CC (convolutional coding) or CTC (convolutional turbo coding) encoders.

The DL-MAP Decoding function will operate differently depending on the OFDMA zone definition mode: Auto-detect, Manual, or Map File Definition Source mode:

Auto-detect:

Auto-detect Definition Source mode uses the DL-MAP Decoding feature to decode and interpret the FCH and DL-MAP to dynamically provide a downlink subframe zone definition for analysis for each measurement. When Auto-detect is selected, DL-MAP Decoding is always performed so the DL-MAP Decoding checkbox is not available (greyed). Use the DL-MAP Info trace to view the decoded FCH and DL-MAP data results.
Manualand Map file:

When the VSA is set to Manual (or Map file) DefinitionSource mode, the DL-MAP Decoding feature operates independent of the current measurement analysis configuration. This allows the measured DL-MAP map message information to be viewed independent of the Manual Definition Source parameter settings. The zone Offset and zoneLength must include the complete FCH and DL-MAP regions within the analyzed subframe for the DL-MAP Decoding feature to perform correctly.

Selected: Automatic DL-MAP decoding is performed.

Cleared: Automatic DL-MAP decoding is not performed and the UL-MAP Decoding property is disabled (greyed).

The VSA also provides UL-MAP Decoding.
