Cumulative Statistics (Advanced Radar)

Menu Path: Trace > Data > Result Tables > Cumulative Stats

This trace is only available when the Synchronization Domain is Amplitude or the Pulsed checkbox is checked.  If both of these are not true, the trace won't be available for selection.

The Cumulative Statistics table is a type of Matrix Table that displays the accumulated Minimum, Maximum, Average, RMS, Median, Mode (value that appears most often), and Standard Deviation (Std Dev) of each reported performance metric based on all detected pulses since the last Measurement Restart (includes current plus previous acquisitions).

When averaging is turned on, the reported metrics are averaged.

Mode and Median

Mode and Median differ from the other metrics in the Cumulative Stats table in that mode and median are calculated from only the points in the trend buffers (and before trend removal is performed). The other statistics are calculated from all points that have been in the table since measurement restart, regardless of the trend buffer length.

Mode is conceptually, “the most frequent value,” and is calculated as the x-axis location of the peak of a histogram calculated from the trend buffer (without trend removal and Histogram Range Limit set to Full, so placing a marker on the peak of a Histogram trace will only match the mode in the Cumulative Stats table when trend removal is disabled and Histogram Range Limit is set to Full).

Median is the value of the center index of the trend data if you sort the data by Y-axis value (i.e. ascending order).

Since mode and median require calculation of a histogram and a sort operation for every measurement update for each metric’s trend buffer, showing the Cumulative Stats table can have a noticeable effect on the measurement update rate, especially as the number of points accumulated in trend buffers increases.
