5. DualARB

Sample Clock

Instrument Sample Clock is always read-only. It is coupled with waveform Sample Rate and Oversampling Ratio.

Sample Clock = Sample Rate * Oversampling Ratio

For specified range values, see the signal generator or arb data sheet.

Sample Clock Source

Default: Internal

Displays the source of the sample clock, which is read-only for the Internal Arb Waveform Generator setup.

Runtime Scaling

Range: 1.0% to 100%

Default: 70%

Enter a scaling factor for the signal generator to apply to the waveform while it is playing.

Use scaling to get the best dynamic range without overflowing the I/Q digital to analog converters.

The runtime scaling parameter is used to reduce the digital signal before it reaches the DACs. The DACs used in the MXG and ESG/PSG Options 001, 002, 601, or 602 provide an oversampling function to reduce the Sin(x)/x roll off effects inherent with DACs. This automatic oversampling function can cause a data over-range in the DAC. These over-ranges can be prevented by reducing the runtime scaling value. The default runtime scaling of 70% guarantees that a data over range cannot occur. Choosing higher runtime scaling values can improve the performance of some signals without causing data over-ranges. A data over-range can cause signal distortion.
