The Wrap Waveform selection in the Waveform Acquisition Setup dialog box is used to display averaged eye diagrams. Without Pattern Lock and waveform wraping capability, averaging an eye diagram would result in logic highs being averaged with logic lows, which results in an erroneous value between the two levels. The ability to view averaged eye diagrams requires:
- N1000A-PLK
- 86100D-PLK
- N109x-series DCA-M oscilloscope with option PLK
The symbol rate can be any value between 50 MBs and 40.01841 GBs. If the rate is greater than 23.2 GBs, you must provide a divided trigger. The pattern length used must less than 223.
- Display an eye diagram on the instrument.
- At the bottom of the application, click the Pattern Lock icon () so that it is locked ().
- Click Setup > Acquisition Setup to open the Acquisition Setup dialog.
- Click the Waveform tab, and confirm that Acquire Entire Pattern and Wrap Waveform are selected.
- On the Smoothing tab, select Average and set the number of averages as needed. The default value is 16.
If you are using the 86107A precision timebase module, connect the reference clock to both the 86107A module's Reference Clock Input and to the mainframe's front-panel Trigger input.
